If you are experiencing slow navigation and downloads when you connect to the Internet, Internet Cyclone might be a good solution for you. This program is capable of adjusting many internal Internet and TCP/IP parameters for you, so that you can make the most of your connection. The program offers you three automatic optimization modes, though you can set the values manually, too.
On its website, Internet Cyclone claims to be capable of accelerating your connection up to 200%. However, this is not really true. The program simply intends to set optimal values for parameters such as the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU), the Time To Live (TTL), and the Receive Window size (RWIN). These values should vary depending on your network configuration and Internet connection type, in order to reach the maximum speed possible. Once these values are optimal, you can see an increase in the speed of all Internet-related services, such as web navigation, downloads, e-mail, chat, video conference, online gaming, etc.
The program offers a messy and visually unattractive user interface, consisting of a single window. It allows you to select the Internet connection type among Modem, ISDN, Cable/DSL, DSL (PPPoE), and Extreme, as well as the optimization method among automatic modes 1, 2 and 3, and custom mode. Unfortunately, you need to test each automatic mode for yourself and decide which one is best for your system. If you are (really) an expert, you can also opt for the custom mode, and type in the values for all the parameters supported. After you make any changes, it's always necessary to restart your system to apply them effectively. Finally, the program always allows you to go back to Windows’ default settings by simply clicking on a button.
In conclusion, although Internet Cyclone is not really capable of boosting your physical Internet connection, it can optimize Windows to make the most of your connection and speed up the web navigation and all other Internet-related services. The program works for all Windows versions, from 95 to 8.
